My Personal Bio
Hello everyone, this is a little information about myself. My name is Demetris A. Fisher and I’m a web designer/programmer. I was born and raised in East Saint Louis, Illinois. I was raised in some of the roughest project housings in the city. Throughout my life, I have always had a passion for technology and ideas of inventing the next “BIG THING.” I graduated from E. St. Louis Senior High School in the summer of ’95. I didn’t go to college immediately after graduating. I decided to attend college for Electrical Engineering. I graduated in the summer of ’01 with my Bachelor’s degree. I worked in the industry for a while until I lost intrest. While maintaining my passion for technology, I decided to teach myself computers maintenance. So I bought books on how to build computers. Once learning how, and building several computers on my own. I decided to go into business for myself building computers for different people.
It wasn’t until about a year later when I discovered I also had a talent for programming. So I bought more books on web design and programming. I studied until my eyes were red from lack of sleep.
So that’s where I am now still building websites.
I built this site for the sole purpose of educating myself, and in the process educate the world particular young African American boys and girls on our black history and inventors.
Today, we as African American are faced with so much negativity that our younger generation “think” they have nothing to look forward to, no one to idolize because of their surroundings and upbringing. I wanted to show that by being African American doesn’t mean that all to life is project housing, drugs, and jail. I wanted to shine a light on how powerful the mind can be with a little imagination and determination, maybe they can be the next “BIG” African American inventor.
